Angela flew out of bed so fast she knocked tea on the side table to the ceiling. The tea oozed down the white walls causing a yellowish stain that kept moving. An hour and a half later than her normal waking time, now she was irritated that she now has to clean up something. Ugh!!!

Get up and go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s what her head was always saying to her. Her haste and frantic pace were all she ever knew.

Angela quickly threw her hair into a bun to minimize the unwashed look. She threw a croissant in the toaster oven, gathered a pen and paper, and jumped on zoom.

She paused and took a deep breath while the screen changed from “waiting room” to the infamous, you’re now on video.

She flashed a fake smile pretending that she had it all together. This pretending state, the façade that she never wanted to let anyone know what was really going on behind the iron curtain.

The daily routine started.

At the end of her workday, Angela was mentally exhausted. This has got to change. She exclaimed I can’t go one like this anymore.

With heavy eyelids, she pulled out a beautifully stationary pad with thick paper that a friend gave her years ago. Angela reveled in how exquisite and carefully crafted this journal was.

Angela put her hand over her heart, closed her eyes, and said:

“What if I put as much love and care into my life and career? How exquisite can my life become?”

She opened her eyes and wrote and wrote. She wrote until her hand almost fell off. Ten pages later, she crafted her own personal mission statement.

The next morning, she woke an hour earlier than normal to reflect and create a purpose for her day. This added pause to the morning gave her time to herself instead of the hectic pace she was accustomed to. Angela finally figured out she could discern her own truth by asking her heart what was best instead of letting her head drive the way forward.

Are you having difficulty deciding what to believe or how to move forward? Close your eyes, take three deep breathes with a longer exhale, and ask your heart – How can I serve today?

Wishing you a joyful, loving, and prosperous day!
