Have you ever felt a burning desire deep within you?
It’s the dream that you never told anyone about. It’s the trip of a lifetime. It’s truly utilizing the special gifts that make your job easier that no one has a clue how you do it.
Whether it’s a special way of being that transforms relationships, special gifts to make a project go smoother, or doing something fun and outrageous just because you can.
As the great writer, Napolean Hill stated, “There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is the definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants and a burning desire to possess it.”
It’s time to stop holding yourself back.
Whenever I talk about rock climbing, the first thing a novice always says is, but I’m afraid of heights. My reply is always. “Me, too.” What’s your next excuse?
Whenever you really want somethings, it’s about finding ways around or through the excuses, setbacks, and obstacles that your reality perceives.
Is it really heights? Is it a fear of death? Is it a fear of looking bad for not knowing how to climb? Is it a fear of falling and not being caught because you are so independent that you can’t depend on anyone to help you? Is it the perception of you struggling to figure things out?
The greatest gift rock climbing gave me is to face my obstacles head on with a crushing ball. How many different ways can I potentially move my body to get around this obstacle and reach the next hold?
Sometimes it’s as easy as believing in myself to make the move. Sometimes its strengthening a few muscles so I can grip the rock better. Other times its learning even more ways to move the body to get around a hold. And even more, it’s the perception of your belay partner being the most patient person on earth waiting 30 minutes for you to attempt a move 10 different times.
While there is beginner’s luck, few people rarely get anything correct on the first go around. It takes time to practice using your muscles, building a mindset that believes you can truly do it, and trust that you will be okay even when you fall. Even in learning to surf, I stood up on the first wave then proceeded to falls on the next 20 waves.
Each move is a learning experience, to be refined for the next attempt.
The same occurs in life. Each conversation makes the next conversation better and easier to navigate through.
It’s when you move through the difficulties and setbacks from an obstacle, that the great gifts of momentum are brought forward in unexpected ways.
Your ability to handle the setback with enthusiasm, yes, enthusiasm is what will stand out most. If a set back, makes you never go again your burning desire is only a seed that never sprouted. If with each setback, you bring a sense of curiosity, fun, and exploration, how to move differently, your next attempt will go about smoother. Keep practicing moving forward and handling each set back with ease and grace. Slowly you’ll start connecting each move and building progress.
What’s deep in your heart that’s ready to come forward?
Wishing you an abundant, joyful, and prosperous day!
